How to Fight Adrenal Fatigue

Think you have adrenal fatigue and want to know what you can do to increase your energy and feel better? Well, start with these steps

Proper Rest

Those individuals that suffer from adrenal fatigue often times push themselves to the limit on a regular basis.  Daily schedules that over extend your energy levels combined with lack of rest and proper sleep are a receipt for disaster.

Symptoms of an adrenal fatigue can sometimes be improved with just rest periods at various points throughout the day.  Many people would rather be paid for vacation time instead of actually taking time off.  While the money is good – leisure and vacation time away from work and other obligations is a great way to recharge your batter and fight adrenal fatigue.

Adequate Sleep

I know, none of us get enough sleep, but sleep is extremely important.  Numerous studies have shown that the body repairs itself and replenishes the hormone reserves that are responsible for all bodily functions and energy levels when we sleep.

In fact in order to maintain enough cortisol (stress hormone) for daily activities proper sleep is a MUST.

Studies have shown that the body needs at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep everyday.  Now this may sound like a lot of sleep but it is what is needed for optimal health.

So what if you can’t sleep?  Well it depends on the reason.  Chronic insomnia can be due to a variety of conditions, such as:

  • Chronic pain
  • Stress
  • Drug Nutrient Depletions
  • Poor Sleep Habits
  • Hormonal Imbalance
  • And More

One Wellness Place has products to help with many of these insomnia causing conditions such as:

  • Hormone Replacement, balancing your hormones with hormones that are identical to those found in your body is a great way improve sleep patterns (these hormones are prescription products)

Reducing Stress

Probably the strongest contributing factor to adrenal fatigue and lack of energy is stress.  Remember stress will wreak havoc on your body, zap you of your energy and literally KILL you.

While it is easy to tell someone to reduce their stress many people do not know how to go about doing it. Here are some ways to help reduce your stress level

  1. Listen to music
  2. Call a friend or loved one
  3. Talk yourself through it
  4. Eat healthy
  5. Exercise
  6. Watch a movie
  7. Meditate

Eliminating Stimulants

Stimulants such as coffee, caffeine, and alcohol can be quite dangerous for the person with adrenal fatigue.   While they can provide an immediate boost – they are often time accompanied with a drop in energy afterwards.  Large amounts of refined sugars can also result in vicious cycles of high and low energy levels. As the person with adrenal fatigue continues to consume these stimulants they may actually become addicted; which may lead to other serious consequences

Adrenal Friendly Diet

Remember overall better health and improved ability to balance stress can not be achieved with a bad diet.  A diet rich in healthy foods, including fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains (complex carbohydrates), as well as your good fats can contribute to improved adrenal function and overall better health..
