Erectile Dysfunction (ED) – What is it?

ED is the repeated inability to sustain an erection for sexual intercourse. While lack of sexual desire can lead to ED, these are considered two different conditions. It is estimated that as many as 15 to 30 million American men experience some form of erectile dysfunction.

Some causes of ED include medications, diseases, injury and stress.

If the desire to have sex is present and medications have been ruled out as the cause of erectile dysfunction then the problem is BLOOD FLOW.

Proper blood flow to the penis is crucial to obtaining and maintaining a proper erection.  Any condition that slows or prevents blood flow through the vessels in the body can result or worsen ED.

The following is a list of chronic conditions that can contribute to ED:

• Heart disease
• High blood pressure
• Diabetes
• High cholesterol

The medications compounded in this injection are:

Prostaglandin E1               Papaverine

Phentolamine                   Atropine

All of these medications dilate the blood vessels and when injected into the penis they have been shown to increase the blood flow to that area resulting in a sustained erection.
